Good resolutions in small steps
You want to take good care of yourself, but sticking to resolutions isn't easy. So, don't make it too hard on yourself. The following tips can help:
1. Choose one or two habits to change
Don't try to change everything at once. Often, this is too much, and the end result is that you haven't improved anything. Focus on one or two things and build from there.
2. Make your goal concrete
For example: I will go for a walk every Monday after work. Vague goals like "exercise more" are less likely to succeed. Write down your goal and place it where it's visible. This way, you always see what you're working towards, even when you're finding it tough.
3. Don't set the bar too high
Don't start with three times a week of one-hour walks if you never do this. Begin with a small walk once a week and increase when you feel ready. It might take longer to reach the higher goal, but the chances of success are much greater this way. You'll also feel much more positive about yourself instead of having to deal with disappointment because you didn't achieve it.
4. Do it together
Find someone who can achieve the goal with you. Think of your partner or a good friend. Together, you are strong!
